Project ONE: Mixed Media Superheros
This is just a sampling of the start of the eighth grade mixed media project. They had to choose a hero, decide which three or more mediums to use and then show their hero in famlair surrounding... Here's the start. There's more to come for the 26th, when it's due for presentation.
Final Presentation of Project One
PROJECT TWO - LEGACIES
Students were required to design a symbol or develop an image that would represent a message they wanted to leave behind - a legacy. Students were challenged with using only 3 colored oil cray-pas... What you have before you is our two day process... of PART ONE
PART TWO.... Where other classmates from the SAME PERIOD, worked on the originals...
Then another class and final evaluations of what exactly is the legacy being left behind at Nichols... But there's yet more to come... becuase there's the rationale and the finished collaborative product...
... And now the Final Presentation...
The collaborative effect...
A sampling of comments are here:
The project was cool in the way that it was cool to see what other people did to your work.
This assignment's expectations were to form a legacy to leave behind to future students. I enjoyed the flexible guidelines.
I was very excited to see what my work turned into after my peers added to it.
I thought the expectations were to work together as a class. I enjoyed seeing everybody put their artwork together and I thought it was cool to see.
At first, I was very nervous. This was because I believed that there was a possibility that somebody could seriously mess up my work, and I am a very possesive person so I also dislike sharing some things.
I thought about ways to express myself. I thought about the people who have helped me in my life and how they have built me up.
I wasn't sure what the point of the project was at first, but it was cool to work on someone else's project and continue their though process to the best of my ability
After my legacy was changed and i got it returned i kept it the same i didn't want to change what other people felt based off of my original work.
I had hard time sharing some thing important with someone else. I was not sure if they going to accept that and work as hard as I did. But after seeing at the end I was happy that the accepted as worked hard.
Collaboration would give the legacy more detail
I think since ive seen so much abstact art i have more perspectives on moods and feelings of art that could very much influence the way I do art in the future
When you run out of ideas for something, the abstract concept could help.
This project has an aspect of problem solving, because you have to figure out what you can do with only three colors, which also fits into abstract thinking. You may have to think outside of the box to figure out what to create with three colors.
I believe that this project will help me in the future by showing me how I can let others help and improve my work. Most times, I dislike letting others touch my work, however I realize now that sometimes others can improve it.
